Race Update - Day 11

There has been little change to the leaders on corrected time today, with Jolie Brise (UK) remaining in the lead, Tecla (Netherlands) in second, Kruzenshtern (Russia) in third and Spirit of Bermuda in fourth. Urania (Netherlands) continues to lead the Class D group on corrected time with Xsaar (Belgium) in second, Peter von Danzig (Germany) in third and Rona II (UK) in fourth.

On the water, Peter von Danzig has now just 898 nautical miles to go to Bermuda with Spirit of Bermuda some 20 miles behind and virtually neck and neck with Urania who is in a slightly more northerly position.

Wind conditions are far from ideal with just 3 knots of southerly winds being experienced by most of the fleet, which is hardly enough to move the vessels. The forecast low did not seem to materialise so everyone is hoping for better conditions so they can pick up some speed towards Bermuda.

At the front, however, Peter von Danzig reports that she now has some good wind and is back with the spinnaker and cruising along at between 8-10 knots. Good news for the rest of the fleet.

Rona II (UK) wish it to be known to everyone that they are unfortunately having computer problems which means they have been unable to send us updates. However, they report that they are currently now bowling along under genoa, main, mizzen and mizzen staysail. All crew are fit and well and in very good spirits. They are working hard to make the boat sail fast. Rona II is in the groove and they are having a great sail!

The crew of Xsaar (Belgium) have very limited communications and therefore are unable to send us reports at all but we hear via our communications officer on board Kruzenshtern that they are also doing well.

The fleet’s progress on the race can be seen via the fleet tracking.

The list of all the vessels positions on corrected time can be seen in the Vessel Positions Update.
