The first Clearwater School Boys five-day voyage took place the week of October 26-30. Sixteen boys aged 13-14 years and two teachers attended.
The boys participated in the regular schools’ programme which includes:
- steering the ship, line/rope handling, coiling, winching, sail preparation, sail hoisting/dousing/stowage
- visiting Nonsuch Island
- snorkeling instruction
- snorkel exploration of a shipwreck
- mini-lectures
- classroom activities
- journal writing
- a debate
- galley duty/food serving/washing up
- cleaning the ship and decks
Conditions varied with multiple heavy rain squalls and high winds of 25 – 30 mph.
