The second Clearwater School Boys five-day voyage took place the week of November 2-6. Seventeen boys aged 13-14 years and one teacher attended.
The boys participated in Spirit's regular schools’ programme which includes:
- steering the ship, line/rope handling, coiling, winching, sail preparation, sail hoisting/dousing/stowage
- introduction to coastal navigation, ship's systems and knot tying
- visiting Nonsuch Island
- snorkeling instruction
- snorkel exploration of a shipwreck
- mini-lectures
- classroom activities
- journal writing
- a debate
- galley duty: food serving/washing up
- cleaning the ship and decks
Conditions varied with multiple heavy rain squalls and high winds over 30 mph.
