ACE Insurance Becomes First International Sponsor Company

At a ceremony aboard the visiting 170' Sail Training Vessel "Tenacious (www.jst.org.uk), Ralph Richardson, Executive Director, ACE Foundation, announced the $300,000 multi-year donation citing "BSF's programme accent on 'Expeditionary Learning"- a hands-on education model that animates formal curricula.

Expeditionary Learning is simply a small team of students, coached by a team of the respective subject teachers, take a multi-subject project approach to a topic, say- "What is the impact of the Gulf Stream on Bermuda? The team does all the scientific, economic, environmental, social, historical research, analyse the information and then conclude in a written presentation to an expert third party panel from, say, the Bio Station. Literacy has been found to be a huge common benefit whatever the topic. For more info, check www.elob.org
